Hawk Mountain Engagement Session

Hawk Mountain, located in Kempton, Pennsylvania is one of my all time favorite Philadelphia engagement session locations. Gabby and Jordan decided to plan their engagement session during Philadelphia’s peak foliage- around the end of October, and could not have had a more perfect day to do the session. It was a little crowded when we started the session, so we managed to find a small trail at the base of the mountain, just to make the most of the fall colors and utilize some really cool wooded backdrops. After the sun started to dip behind the mountain, we went out to the first overlook where you can see for miles across the mountains. From there we stayed until it got dark, and I had some fun creating some longer exposures/shutter drags (you’ll see- it was cool!)

If you are thinking of doing an engagement session, or are recently engaged, here are a few tips for you!

Engagement Session Tips

1.) Think outside the box with the location. There are so many beautiful locations on the East Coast/ Philadelphia region, so make sure the location is where you feel most comfortable. If you love the location, you will look even better in the photos!

2.) Consider the time of year. Gabby and Jordan planned this session around the peak foliage in October and all the pieces of the puzzle came together for this shoot. Plan ahead, and get a date on the calendar early!

3.) Put together a Pinterest board with outfit inspiration!

4.) Use the engagement session as a trial for your hair and makeup! You will look and feel great.

5.) If you are on the fence for an engagement session, consider doing it! An engagement session is a great way to feel more comfortable in front of the camera, get used to working with a photographer, and get some awesome photos of the two of you prior to your wedding! This stage of life is over so fast- it’s always great to document your engaged life!
